ABSTRACT
This paper encapsulates the lessons learned from a pilot study conducted with a leading microfinance institution, the Center for Agriculture and Rural Development – NGO (CARD-NGO).
It gathers insights from client-beneficiaries as to their experiences with m-Commerce in microfinance. It seeks to gain first-hand feedback on the impact of m-commerce on client-beneficiaries.
The paper also draws lessons from another pilot study with a microfinance bank, the Rural Bankers Association of the Philippines - Microenterprise Access to Banking Services (RBAP-MABS) pilot project based in Mindanao.
The paper takes the form of a case that will put in writing the impact of m-Commerce on microfinance client-beneficiaries which will be useful in the fields of study of m-commerce as well as microfinance. All these initiatives are geared towards better addressing the needs of client-beneficiaries of microfinance institutions.

  1. Edwin:

Just to let you know that we have released a new video on the MABS-designed mobile phone banking services which includes our latest services, Text-A-Sweldo and Text-A-Withdrawal. Our latest approved service, Text-A-Withdrawal, now makes it much easier to withdraw cash in the form of electronic money. This is actually now making it easier to access and load phone remotely. Check out our latest videos at http://mobilephonebanking.rbap.org/page/videos and our new website dedicated to mobile phone banking and mobile commerce solutions for clients of rural banks at http://www.mobilephonebanking.rbap.org .

We soon expect to upload hundreds if not thousands of small and microenterprise clients all over the Philippines on our website to promote mobile payment transactions and the mobile phone banking services of rural banks.

  2. Hi Edwin. My name is Rolin Obina. I work for a bank and would like to make a study on microfinance for my MBA studies. I wonder if I could make some discussion with you on this material you published.

    Have a blessed Christmas.

  3. Hi Rolin,

Sorry, did you receive my reply in December?
I must have been in between laptops and cities that time, wasn’t sure if you got my reply.

Sure, I’m open to discussing with you. Do contact me: edongskey@gmail.com
